The Accident
The origin story is well documented and genuinely unusual, because nobody set out to make this plant.
Joesy Whales was growing Chem Sis when the plants hermied and pollinated his Sour Dubb. Seeded gardens are a nuisance, and he discarded the result. His friend Mardogg kept some of the seeds and grew them out years later, finding four distinct phenotypes.
Number four was the keeper. It has been GG4 ever since.

The Other Name Change
The Gorilla Glue Company — the adhesive manufacturer — took issue with the name, and the cultivar was renamed Original Glue as part of the settlement.
It is the second trademark dispute in this batch, after GSC. Cannabis naming conventions did not anticipate trademark law, and a generation of cultivars named after snacks, brands and pop culture has produced a steady stream of legal letters. Most producers now list it simply as Glue.
Why the Resin Matters
GG4 produces so much resin that it genuinely interferes with trimming. That is not marketing language — scissors gum up and need cleaning repeatedly.
For growers that means careful handling. For extractors it made GG4 a favourite, because resin yield is the whole point of solventless production.
